Garden Plot Rules

Garden Plots will be available May 1st, after additional compost and tilling is completed
  • Weeds within the plot must be kept under control and may not exceed 3 inches in height.
  • Plastic sheeting, wooden fence-boards, wire, stones/ rocks and other miscellaneous items may not be used to border the plots or for the purpose of support for any plants:  SAID ITEMS WILL BE REMOVED
  • Plastic cover or an approved ground weed barrier may be used to help with the unwanted growth of weeds.
  • Only approved tomato stakes or wood stakes may be used for the support for plants
  • Any use of pesticides or herbicides is strictly prohibited  Miracle-Grow Plant food products are OK
  • Please keep your garden plots free of any unwanted  garbage (plastic bags, empty containers, plastic jugs, etc.)
  • Illegal plants may not be grown in the plot
  • Do not plant anything in the soil near and around your apartments or buildings
  • Shed is provided for the storage of your garden tools and also for the potting of your plants
    • We have gardening tools available at the garden shed
    • You can sign-out a key to the Garden Shed at the front desk in the Community Center
    • Please keep this area cleaned and maintained, this is not to be a play room for children

  •  When you vacate, your garden plot will be given to the next person on the waiting list
  •  PLEASE, DO NOT GIVE THE PLOT TO ANYONE.  THIS IS DONE THROUGH HOUSING AND RESIDENCE LIFE
  •  Gardeners will be notified via email or letter if you garden plot is in need of maintenance
  •  Gardeners may forfeit the right to continue to have a Garden Plot if they do not comply with the guidelines
  • PLEASE TAKE NOTE:  ALL GARDEN MATERIALS ARE TO BE REMOVED BY THE END OF NOVEMBER

  • When weeding your plot, take all weeds to compost area.  Do not leave discarded weeds, rocks, or garbage next to your plot or your neighbors' plot.
  • Please do not place trash items with the compost materials
  • Do not let your garden's weeds spread into your neighbors' plots
  • Pick food ONLY from your own garden plot
  • Do not play loud music that may disrupt the peace of those gardening near you
  • Unfortunately tools and supplies disappear, PLEASE return tools to Garden Shed after each use
  • Children need to be supervised by parents when they are at the garden plots
  • The gardens are for gardening, the area is not a play ground
  • Report any unusual or suspicious activities to Campus Police at 3-1111
